Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how CompKoala works, how listings are checked and what to know before entering a competition.
What is CompKoala?
CompKoala is an independent directory that helps Australians find competitions, understand the important entry conditions and keep track of the competitions they enter.
Does CompKoala run the competitions it lists?
No. Competitions are run by the organiser identified in the official terms. CompKoala helps you discover and organise them, but the promoter is responsible for the competition, its terms, prizes and winner selection.
Is CompKoala free to use?
Yes. Browsing competitions and using a CompKoala account are free. Some promoters require a purchase to enter. Where we know this, the listing says so, but always check the official terms before entering.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to browse listings or follow a promoter’s entry link. A free account lets you bookmark competitions, mark entries as entered or won, hide competitions you are not interested in and build a personalised feed.
How is CompKoala supported?
CompKoala is a personal project. There are currently no ads, but unobtrusive ads may help cover running costs in the future. The aim is to keep browsing calm and free of intrusive ads or pop-ups. CompKoala doesn’t earn commissions or referral fees from promoters. If you’d like to say thanks, you can make a voluntary personal donation through Ko-fi.
Support CompKoalaHow are competitions checked before they are listed?
Before adding a competition to the directory, we look for a genuine promoter, a direct and neutral entry link, verifiable terms, Australian eligibility and enough information to describe the prize and entry requirements. We do our best, but can’t guarantee every listing, so always check the promoter’s official terms.
Why doesn’t CompKoala use official third-party competition banners?
We avoid republishing promoters’ banners without permission to use their artwork and branding. Keeping listings in a consistent format also makes competition details easier to browse and helps make clear that CompKoala is an independent directory. You can follow the official entry link to see the promoter’s original campaign, entry requirements and terms.
Can CompKoala guarantee that every listing is accurate?
No. We take care when reviewing and maintaining listings, but promoters can change or remove information. Always read the promoter’s current official terms before entering, especially the eligibility rules and closing time.
Who can enter the competitions?
Eligibility is set by each promoter and varies by competition. A listing may be Australia-wide or limited by state, age, residency, purchase history or another condition. Check the “Who can enter” section and the official terms.
How does competition tracking work?
When you are logged in, you can bookmark a competition or mark it as entered. Your account keeps those competitions together, and you can later mark an entry as won or remove it from your list.
Why do I see a warning before visiting an entry page?
Entry pages and official terms are hosted by third parties. The warning is a reminder that you are leaving CompKoala and should check the promoter, terms, privacy information and web address before sharing personal details.
Can I submit a competition to CompKoala?
Yes. Logged-in members can send us a direct, neutral link to a genuine competition that is open to Australians. Submissions are reviewed before they appear publicly.
What should I do if a listing is wrong or a link is broken?
Use the Report button on the competition page when you are logged in, or contact us. Helpful reports include the incorrect detail and, where possible, a link to the promoter’s updated information.
Does CompKoala sell my personal information?
No. CompKoala never sells your personal information and doesn’t share it with competition promoters. For details about information collected for accounts and site operation, read the privacy notice.
